Troop 56 Scholarship

The Committee of Troop 56, BSA in Wilmington, MA has established a scholarship to help a scout continue his education beyond high school. Each candidate must meet the requirements listed below.

  1. The applicant does not need to be an Eagle Scout, however achieving this coveted rank will enhance your chances of being awarded a scholarship.
  2. The applicant must be a graduating high school senior and be entering a college, university, trade school, apprenticeship, or other continuing education program approved by the Scholarship Committee.
  3. Provide a copy of the scout’s High School transcript with this application. There is no minimum grade point average or other academic standings mandated by this scholarship.
  4. Allow the publication of the scout’s name, picture, and award in appropriate news media and troop materials.
  5. Have demonstrated leadership within the Troop, as well as in the Community.
  6. Participation in activities outside Troop 56. (Student Government, Athletics, Student Clubs and Organizations, et cetera).
  7. A letter of recommendation from a non-family member. This letter can be from a teacher, advisor, coach, mentor, et cetera.
  8. Two scholarships will be awarded, $100/each in a check payable to the recipient and is to be used for educational expenses.
  9. All materials must be turned into the Scholarship Committee by the last Tuesday of May.
